Children's Nonprofit in California Names New Medical Director: Stanford University Graduate and Former UCLA Resident, Dr. Lisa M. Cullins Brings

SAN JOSE, Calif. (BusinessWire EON) June 27, 2007 -- The EMQ medical staff work in teams with other EMQ clinical staff such as licensed social workers, psychologists and family specialists to provide quality care for the children and families served by the agency. These treatment teams provide family and child-focused therapy. In keeping with EMQ's medication policy, therapeutic measures such as psychotherapy or counseling always accompany any medication treatment that is prescribed to children. Medication alone cannot move a family or child forward.

"Dr. Cullins' wide experience, both working directly with children who struggle with mental health and emotional issues, and serving as a medical director, makes her an ideal match for us," said Darrell Evora, President of EMQ. "We're fortunate to have found someone who has a track record of success in overseeing mental health programs to help children and families with special needs."

Before joining EMQ, Dr. Cullins was medical director of the DC Kids Program in the Division of Psychiatry, and Associate Training Director of the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program at Children's National Medical Center, Washington DC. She also was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at George Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Cullins, a graduate of Stanford University, received her M.D. degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine. Following her residency at UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital in Los Angeles, she was a fellow in child and adolescent psychiatry at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, NYS Psychiatric Institute in New York, NY. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
